Alice Johannsen
Alice Johannsen, 86, formerly of Southold, New York, passed away sud-denly at her home in Hen-dersonville, North Caro-lina on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Alice was pre-ceded in death by her de-voted husband of 31 years, Carsten Johanssen, as well as her only son, John Albertson.
Alice was born in Floral Park New York on Sep-tember 22,1931 to the late Lucy and James Wheeler and spent most of her life in Southold. Her efforts in that area continued after she moved to North Caro-lina, where she also worked with victims of domestic violence.
In addition to her nurs-ing career, Alice was a gifted and prolific artist, her talent having been discovered when she was a child. Her beautiful wa-tercolors have won nu-merous awards and many are currently on display in North Carolina. Although her talents and accom-plishments are notewor-thy, Alice Johannsen was perhaps best known by those who knew and loved her, as an extraordinary human being. Throughout her life, she has been a model of integrity, com-passion and unselfishness. Her acts of kindness are innumerable. She has truly left this world a much better place.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Albertson-Kelly, and her husband, Robert Kelly as well as three stepchildren: Mi-chael Johannsen, Mark Johannsen and his wife, Suzanne, and Kristin Grantz , and her husband, Sherman.
