Harrhy Angwin Lewis

Harrhy Angwin Lewis, age 91 of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Elizabeth House. He was born May 1, 1927 in Scranton, Penn-sylvania; a son of the late, J. Harry and Alice Angwin Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dan Lewis; and by one brother, Albert Lewis.
He retired from the St. Petersburg Fire Depart-ment following many faithful years of service. He continued his service with the Etowah-Horse Shoe Volunteer Fire De-partment where he was a lifetime member. He proudly served his coun-try during WWII and the Korean War during his 39 years in the United States Navy Seabees. He was a member of the First Alli-ance Church of Hender-sonville where he served as an Elder. He loved camping, woodworking and reading; he was a master carpenter and also served as a Lay Minister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Geraldine "Gerie" Lewis; three children, David Lewis and his wife, Brenda, Deborah Conner and Doug Lewis and his wife, Darlene; daughter-in-law, Donna Lewis, wife of Dan; nine grandchil-dren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Eugene Lewis and Duane Lewis; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the First Alliance Church in Hendersonville officiated by the Reverend Ron Glass and Reverend Don Chapman.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that dona-tions in Harrhy's memory be directed to the Etowah-Horse Shoe Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 909, Horse Shoe, NC 28742; or to the First Alliance Church, 1821 Windsor Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
