James P. Kilcullen Obituary
James P. Kilcullen, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday night, March 9, 2019 with his family by his side. Born in Bayonne, NJ on March 13th, 1937 and reared in nearby Leonia, he was the oldest of four impressive siblings. He was the son of the late James and Mary Kilcullen, and was preceded in death by his sister Sheila.
"Killer" was a High School Wrestling District Champion at 106lbs, finishing 4th in the state tournament his senior year. He was a proud alumnus of St. Peter's College in Jersey City, graduating with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics. James had an illustrious professional career spanning 37 years on Wall Street as a municipal bond trader. He ended his career after a long tenure at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in the World Trade Center in New York City, times he spoke of with positive reflection of lasting memories.
James was a long time resident of West Orange, NJ, ultimately retiring to the South as he had always planned with his wife Julianne of 50 years to scenic Etowah, NC. He was an avid reader, dedicated cruciverbalist, opera enthusiast, Jets loyalist, anonymous poet, and admitted geography nerd who appreciated good conversation accompanied by a gin martini. Very dry, two olives, rocks.
James truly enjoyed spending time with his family, debating current events and reminiscing of days past. His infectious smile and laugh, quick wit, genuine interest and admiration for others' successes resonated throughout his life and will be missed dearly.
He is survived and cherished by his loving wife; three children Michael, Walter, and Meghan; son-in-law Timothy Dunne, daughter-in-law Danelle Hudson, brothers John and Brian, adoring nieces and nephews, and countless friends of the Kilcullen family.
A Memorial celebrating his long, fulfilled life will be held in Northern New Jersey in April.
