Hazel Christine (MacKay) Trask

Hazel Christine (MacKay) Trask, 97 of Annapolis, MD, formerly of Lexington, MA died Saturday, September 5, 2015. She was born to Murdock and Katherine MacKay on September 20, 1917. She was the beloved wife of Robert P. Trask, Jr. for 51 years before his passing in 1992. She was the loving mother of Linda, Robert III, and Diane. She was a graduate of Girls' Latin School in Boston and Boston University. During WWII she joined the American Women's Volunteer Service and drove Army staff cars in and around the Boston area. Hazel was the pianist for a Ballet Academy for 30 years, gave private piano lessons and was a church organist. She was a lifelong and dedicated member of the Newton Presbyterian Church where she directed the Jr. and Youth Choirs for over 40 years. In 2006 she moved to the Ginger Cove retirement community in Annapolis. She played the piano for church services and programs at Ginger Cove. No one will ever forget the in-house production of "Sister Act," and her improvisation with saxophonist, Del Puschert. She was known for her warm hospitality and generous spirit. She was a faithful friend and a good neighbor. She enjoyed traveling, and did a crossword puzzle every day. Hazel was an avid fan of all the Boston sports teams. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Hazel is survived by a son, Robert (Margaget) Trask III of Wheaton, IL, a daughter, Diane (Jeffrey) Judd of Nebo, NC, a son-in-law, Robert Siddon, of Annapolis, MD; 9 grandchildren, Deborah Siddon of Alexandria, VA, Katharine (Scott) Raspa of Annapolis, MD, Elizabeth Siddon of Philadelphia, PA, Rebecca Judd, of Charlotte, NC, Heather Watkins, of Marion, NC, Margaret (Eric) Christie of Lynnwood, WA, Charles (Melissa) Trask of Pineville, NC, Emily Trask and her fiancée, Jake Murtiashaw of Charlotte, NC, Stephen (Sarah) Trask of Wheaton, IL, a granddaughter-in-law, Deborah Trask of Naperville, IL,; and 8 great-grandchildren, Grace, Gavin and Griffin Raspa of Annapolis, Morgan and Landon Trask of Naperville, IL, Anthony Trask of Pineville, NC, and Zachary and Ethan Watkins of Marion, NC, several nieces and nephews and an "adopted daughter," Joanna (Ken) Sgorbati. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Linda Siddon, a grandson, Nathaniel Trask, and her brother Donald MacKay. Visitation will be at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre St., Newton on Friday, September 18th, 4-7 pm. A Funeral service will be held at the Newton Presbyterian Church, 75 Vernon St., Newton on Saturday, September 19th at 10 am. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
