Resident of Brockton, formerly of New Bedford and Wareham, MA, and Sanbornton, NH, age 63, died at home with family after a brief battle with cancer. His survivors include his son Andrew J. McWain III, of New Bedford, MA; his daughter Jennifer McWain of Franklin, ME; sister Luana Giardina of Brockton, MA, brother Harold McWain of Allentown, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Devoted son of the late Andrew J. McWain (Batavia, NY) and Marion Ruth Skellen (Allentown, PA). Born in Batavia, NY. McWain studied at Hobart College, Loyola University, and Boston University and served as a corpsman in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He was a devoted father, avid reader, and a life-long philosopher, who loved animals, mathematics, and science fiction. He worked for Massachusetts General Hospital for 23 years as a computer programmer/operator in medical records, and also worked as a real estate/mortgage broker, dry cleaner, bookseller, and cab driver, among other occupations. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the MSPCA and the American Cancer Society. Arrangements: Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a memorial service to celebrate his life on Friday, February 11, 2005, at 11 AM at the First Unitarian Church, 71 Eighth Street, New Bedford.
