FRANCIS BROWN Obituary

BROWN, Francis P. "Frank" Francis Patrick "Frank" Brown passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 at the Massachusetts General Hospital due to sudden complications from a chronic medical condition. Frank was born on November 30, 1946 in Boston, MA to Francis and Henrietta Brown. The second of four children, Frank grew up in the Boston area, first in Somerville, and then moving to Belmont in grade school. Frank graduated from The Belmont Hill School in 1964, then went on to complete his undergraduate studies at Tufts University with a B.S. in Mathematics in 1968, and his Masters in Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1976. Frank went on to a long and successful career in the "emerging world of computers," starting with Digital Corp., continuing on with Compaq and finally retiring with Hewlett Packard. Frank was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, who cared deeply for his family, both immediate and extended. Frank was often seen as the patriarch within the family who could be relied on to provide an ear and thoughtful advice, while making sure to sneak in a joke or quick tease along the way. He loved his family deeply, and even though he thoroughly enjoyed embarrassing his children at any chance he got, he went above and beyond the duties of a father with his unending love, strength, and guidance. Frank had a great group of friends he saw as extended family. From the Amherst crew to the Winchester gang, Frank loved and was loved by his friends for his "Frank" advice, and quick wit. He loved nothing more than breakfast with the guys at Moulton's and Sunday golf with the crew, where he took his co-commissioner role very seriously. Frank is survived by his wife Nancy; his children Patrick, John, Margaret, and Katherine; his grandchildren Penelope, Bridget, Elizabeth, and Ryan; his siblings Mary, Richard, and Eleanor; and his many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Due to Covid19 restrictions, Frank's Funeral Mass at St Joseph Church and Burial at Highland Meadow Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to Catholic Charities https://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/ or Feeding America https://www.feedingamerica.org/ Online guestbook at www.brownandhickey.com. Frank Brown was the sort of person one would never forget. It was always a pleasure bantering with him. He was never lacking a clever comment on anything. It always irked him when I shut him up with "Really Francis". Frank, thanks for the memories.

I worked with Frank in Internal Audit reporting to Joe
LaRose. My memory remembers one of the nicest
people I have ever met. That smile/grin went from ear to
ear and he was always ready to crack a joke and get us all
laughing. It was a very memorable working experience.
So very sorry to his family for your hugh loss.
