Marguerite was the wife of my boss Phil when he was Dean, College of Business Administration, Northeastern University. I loved seeing and talking with her at college and university functions, sampling her hospitality and great cooking at small gatherings at their home and chatting at juried art exhibitions where some her art was on display. While on a trip to China she and Phil selected a couple paintings on silk for me that I loved. I framed them myself; they are still on display in my home decades later. She was always so full of life. If I were allowed only one word to describe Marguerite it would be Joyful. My condolences to Becky and Bruce--whom I knew as a student, then professor at Northeastern--and the extended family. I would like to know when/where the memorial service will be.

I met Marguerite in an antique shop in Waltham, MA where we talked at great length about poetry, art, music and what Marguerite referred to as her "visual journal" of living with MS. Eager to continue the conversation Marguerite invited me for tea at her beloved home and we quickly became friends. I was deeply moved by her paintings and inspired by her determination to make art everyday no matter what. I was particularly drawn to one of her early MS paintings titled "Acceptance", as I was struggling with the recent death of my youngest sister. The painting also inspired a poem by the same title which began a five year collaboration of sorts. The poems were in response to Marguerite's art and we eventually put a collection together which we called, "Snow on the Brain: Living with Multiple Sclerosis". The poetry and the paintings were exhibited at Very Special Arts in Boston.A dvd of the project was made which I will try to download here. It can also be viewed on my website (www.maryloudipietro.com)Marguerite was an amazing woman and phenomenal artist. I will miss her friendship and the bond through art and poetry that we shared.
