McGOURTY, Patrice (Hurley) Of Northborough, in the quiet evening hours of Thursday, October 30, 2025, Patrice H. McGourty, passed away after a short illness. Her passing was peaceful and Cara, her beloved daughter, was at her side. Born on July 19, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, Patrice was the cherished eldest daughter of the late William F. and Margaret Hurley. She was raised in Brookline, where she graduated from Brookline High School, before earning her undergraduate degree in Education from Northeastern University. Patrice had a passion for understanding and supporting young minds, which led her to continue her studies at Assumption College, where she completed both her Master's degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Child Psychology. Patrice loved the quote, "We are all on this earth but for one purpose, and that is to take a small corner of it and make it better." Patrice truly lived by that ideal and spent her lifetime advocating for the well-being of children. She devoted more than 30 years of her career to serving as a school psychologist in the Southborough Public School System, where she touched countless lives with her empathy, insight, and dedication. Patrice found great joy and satisfaction in nature. She was an avid gardener who, for over 35 years, maintained beautiful and vibrant flower gardens around her Juniper Brook home. In later years, she brought her love of beauty and community spirit to her new home in the Pheasant Hill neighborhood, where she not only tended to its flowers but also served on its Board of Trustees. Patrice loved photographing nature, particularly flowers and the beautiful New England foliage, as the natural world brought her peace. She enjoyed traveling, whether to Ireland, New York City, New Orleans, or her lifelong favorite spot, Cape Cod. Patrice is survived by her beloved daughter, Cara McGourty of Westport, CT; her four siblings, Moira Rozon of Lakeland, FL, Carey Burke of West Boylston, Regina Hurley of Medford and Liam Hurley of Worcester; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Cindy McGourty of Naples, FL; and several dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 45 years, William (Bill) McGourty, in 2018; and her nephew, Mark McGourty in 2024. A Funeral home service will be held at 12 noon, on Thursday, November 13, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, NORTHBOROUGH. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Save the Children International, honoring Patrice's lifelong dedication to the happiness and well-being of children.
