RICHARD S. "DICK" BRODOWSKI

BRODOWSKI, Richard S. "Dick" Age 86, of Lynn, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 14, 2019. Dick was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, and resided in Lynn and Manchester, MA. In 1951, at the age of 19, Dick signed with the Boston Red Sox as a relief pitcher and continued to play professional ball until 1959, including, with the Washington Senators and Cleveland Indians. Playing professional baseball during the 50s, Dick was honored to play alongside Red Sox legends such as Ted Williams and Johnny Pesky. One of Dick's most memorable moments was beating the NY Yankees in Yankee Stadium, 4-3 at the age of 19. Dick was a man of few words and humble whenever asked about his baseball career, he would simply respond, "I was blessed". He was employed as a salesman after his career in professional baseball. Dick was a born athlete and was an avid tennis player and a member of Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester. He loved spending time with his family, reminiscing about his wonderful childhood, listening to his favorite oldies, vacationing in Florida, annual visits back to Bayonne, morning drives along the ocean and dinner at the Village Restaurant in Essex. Dick was extremely generous, supporting numerous charitable organizations. He is remembered with love by his four daughters, Lisa Brodowski and granddaughter Chelsey, Karen Barteaux and her husband Richard, Lori Power and her husband John, and Kristin Dufford and her husband Dean, and his companion of 30 years Evelyn Marshall. He is also survived by loving family and friends of Bayonne, NJ. Dick was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Anna (Kita) Brodowski, and his brothers John and Henry.
