Mrs Lersch and family... I am so sorry for your loss. I just read of his passing in the Semper Fi newsletter. 1stLt Lersch was my Series Commander at Parris Island 56 years ago (Plt 358, 1964) Uncommon to see an aviator as a Series Commander. Coincidentally I was commissioned five years later and served as a Series Commander at San Diego 1971-74. And I was at 2d MAW Cherry Point 1975-78, MCAS El Tory 1981-84 and did Desert Storm as chief of the Marine Targeting Cell at CentAf headquarters in Riyadh 1990-91. We must have crossed paths several times!
If you would like, maybe sometime we could compare notes. I retired as a LtCol in 1992 out of I MEF headquarters at Camp Pendleton.
From Norwich, CT (about a million years ago), now in Pensacola.

Col. Lersch,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USMC-especially during the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Our sincere condolences on Billy's passing. Our Family is diminishing as age catches up with us . Great memories of when he used to come to the Willowfield Tavern with his fellow Marines.
Sincerely ,
John and Susan Houghton
