I am woefully late in acknowledging Rudy's passing. I was honored to met both him and Helen through Milton Bordwin and greatly enjoyed getting to know them. Really charming,warm folks. I am so sorry that they have passed .Many condolences to their family members.

The Appeals Court law clerks, back in the late 1980's, put together a collection of notable quotes from opinions and briefs. They titled the collection, "Clever, quotable, and Kass." Rudy was, very often, clever and quotable. The person behind the clever and quotable also was unfailingly gracious, kind, but firm when serving on a panel for oral argument. Rudy was, and will continue to be, a great teacher for any lawyer. But, behind the scenes, he was so much more. When I was his law clerk, I lost track of how many times he spoke of Helen, Elizabeth, Susan, and Peter. He loves you all and, no doubt, he continues to be extraordinarily proud of you.

i was impressed immediately by Rudy's good cheer and brilliance as soon as I met him after he joined my father's law firm in (?) 1956 or so. He was also counsel to a company for which i worked in the early 70s. He was always a joy to interact with and i followed his judicial career with the greatest interest. It's a great loss for us all. I send my sympathy to his family and many friends.
