ROBERT ROULUSONIS Obituary

ROULUSONIS, Robert R. Age 75, of Lynn, formerly of Cambridge and originally of the West End in Boston, Massachusetts, took his leave on February 14, 2021, after one week of entertaining the essential frontline troops of the North Shore Medical Center in Salem. He was the devoted son of the late Josephine (Giuseppina Violanda Puliatti) of Roccalumera, Sicily, and Alexander Roulusonis of Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA; the loving, pesky older brother to Janet and her husband Anthony Andon; loving father and drill sergeant to offspring Susan Roulusonis Pione, Kelley Josephine Roulusonis, and Robert A. Roulusonis and his wife Lindsay; and gentle grandfather to Deren Parisi and Brendan Pione. Major Bob (prior enlisted – E-6) was retired from the U.S. Post Office in South Boston, and former Army Ranger. "Mr. 442" loved his automobiles, racing his '66 or '67 Oldsmobile 442s at the New England Dragway and enjoying retirement in his classic Lincoln Town Cars. He could fix anything and always had projects waiting for him, whether it was the neighbors' cars in the driveway or the stack of broken hairdryers in the hall closet. If you needed anything, he had it; if he didn't, he would stock up. Need a carriage bolt? He had them. Need a toaster oven? What color? Need a light bulb? Incandescent, LED, halogen, or fluorescent – and what size? He had the tools for any job, because you always need the right tools to get the job done. He had a reason for everything and would always take the time to explain it. On holidays, while hating taking anything for himself, he always showed up with a sack of gadgets (and a prepared demonstration) for everyone. He was a brilliant and funny storyteller and he knew how to command an audience. Nobody told a story like Bob, and because of him everyone has a "Bob" story – or six, at least. He surrounded his life and the lives of those around him with music. Literally. He loved driving around with the windows down and the good old Doo-Wop and Motown blaring, or playing his jukebox in the garage that faced out to the driveway. He shared his music in emails to his friends and whatever song lyrics needed singing out at any given time. And the man had soul. A family or social gathering was always highlighted by Bob leading his family to take over the dance floor. He shared and encouraged that love of music so much that there is not just one song that will remind anyone of Bob, but literally thousands, and that music will always keep him here with us. In lieu of flowers, please follow Major Bob's example, and take care of the people around you. And remember: the toilet paper should always come from the top of the roll, because it's 3 inches closer that way. The Memorial Service is online only: Wednesday, February 24, 7PM EST for slideshow tribute and 8PM for the Service. Instructions: visit his memorial website at www.Mr442.com

Very saddened to learn of Bob's death so long after it happened. I met him at the Peabody House when he was a kid and I was a young volunteer from MIT. We exchanged letters and emails for years, but more regently it was Christmas cards and birthdays. He did not want his birthday recognized, the best reason for doing so. Rest in peace, soldier!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Bob 20 years ago while working in Mass. Made the scary drive to Boston from Springfield a couple of times and he showed me all over the town!! I'm Patty's cousin and I'm happy that he got to spend Valentine's Day with her!! And I'll certainly miss his music postings. Listened to music I hadn't heard in years thanks to him. Rest in peace buddy.

Rest in Peace Major. I had the pleasure of having Bob as my Major at the U.S.P.S. He saved my job when things were tough for me and my family. By far the toughest but most fair Supervisor in my 25 years. Salute and Taps playing for you!

I worked with the Major at the Post Office. He was always there to help and give advice. I learned a lot from him. And yes he always brought 4 large coffees with a straw to work. My wife and I were going on vacation. Staying in East Boston the night before. I called Bob to see if he wanted to get something to eat. And of course he said yes. We went out to eat and hade a great time. After dinner Bob got the waitress to give him the check. I said Bob let me chip in. He said no way! I couldn't even leave the tip. That's the kind of guy he was. I will miss him.

A wonderful friend to all who knew him. My go go to guy whenever I needed help. Lots of good memories of barbeques, New Years parties and just hanging out on the deck drinking Prosecco and talking. Seaport Landing has lost a great neighbor, friend and all around good guy. The music will never end. Love you Bob.

Major - Thanks for your friendship, you were the best for 54 years. From driving to work together at the Quincy ship yard, you one week in your 67 Olds 442 and me the next in
my 66 Chevelle SS 396. We maid it down 20 minutes (or less ) and back in about 25 minutes (because of afternoon traffic). Through numerous years of helping each other out, mostly you helping me out. . To the last few years of dinner once a month, you me and Ron.
I don’t know why he brought you home so early but I’m guessing he has a million things he needed fixed and you were his answer.
You are deeply missed my friend.

Dear Janet and Anthony... I never had the pleasure of meeting Bob and after reading this it was my loss. He sounds like an amazing guy. I love how he will be with you always in the music and stories he’s left behind. So sorry for your loss. Wish I could be there to give you the hugs and hear some of these stories in person. Until then know we all think of you often and send our love. Always. Xoxo Jayne
