REBECCA COHAN Obituary

COHAN, Rebecca Mae (Portnoi) Age 72, of Waban, on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Loving mother of Sarah Bess Cohan and Benjamin Albert Cohan, and their spouses Jamal Gathers, Sr. and Annie LaRochelle. Adored and adoring grandmother of Henry Jay Gathers and Gabriel Thomas LaRochelle Cohan. Devoted daughter of the late Tikvah & Henry Portnoi. Fond sister of Nathan Portnoi, and cherished niece of the late Rachel Sachs Jones & her surviving husband JB Jones and the late Baruch Sachs. Loving cousin to David and Laura Sachs, Sarah and Jordan Stone, Hannah and Alex Craven, Peter and Mark Stone, Jonathan Altman, and their parents and children. Due to current health restrictions, a private service was held at Beth El Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) or the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, MA, both of which Rebecca enjoyed supporting. I am devastated. Rebecca was my therapist off and on for 30 years. She was like a mother to me. I can’t imagine not seeing her again or hearing that loving voice. She was one of the greatest, most loving people I have ever met.
I will miss her always
