ARNOLD, Peter, Sr. Of Arundel, ME, age 81 passed away after fighting a courageous battle with Cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Peter lived life to fullest and always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile for everyone. He was born in Andover, MA to Marjorie and Charles W. Arnold in 1928. Peter attended St. Paul's' School in Concord, NH and graduated from Bowdoin College in 1951. During his college years he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was very proud to serve his country. In 1955, he married his true love, Susie Carver from Swampscott, MA. For the next 39 years they happily raised three children together. Peter taught at Middlesex School in Concord, Mass for 36 years. He was a beloved teacher to all his students. He taught History and Biology and was both the Men's Varsity Hockey Coach and started the Women's Hockey program. He was an avid reader, nature and animal lover and enjoyed bird watching. He was an inspiration in the classroom and a true friend and mentor to his students and colleagues. His guiding principle, which made him respected and loved by all, was to stay true to his values and morals, no matter how difficult the choices. Peter was predeceased by his wife, Susie, his brother Bill and sister, Patricia. He is survived by his children, Peter, from Wilton, CT, Wendy, from Kennebunk, ME and Stephen, from Boxborough, MA along with his grandchildren, Jack, Connor, Taylor, Christie, Hunter and Cameron. He was affectionately called Gumpa by his grandchildren who he adored. Peter was a proud member of the Maine and York County Audubon Societies, the NRA, the Marine Corps League, Laudholm Trust, Saint Andrew's Society of Maine, the York County Fish & Game Association, Inc. The Arundel Yacht Club and a number of Historical Societies. He was also a past member of the Concord Minutemen and the Mass Audubon Society. A memorial celebration of Peter's life will be held on Sunday November 1st at 11:00 am at The Middlesex School Chapel, 1400 Lowell Road, Concord MA 01742. In lieu of flowers, because of Peter's true love of Middlesex School, the family requests that donations be made in Peter and Suzy's name to: The Peter and Suzanne C. Arnold Scholarship Fund C/O Middlesex School, 1400 Lowell Rd, Concord, MA 01742.
