Brian, Styx, Chuckles, but mostly friend, you will be missed, We didnt talk politics much or even basketball, but we did about music, and liking the same bands. But when I needed a favor, even when it was out of your district, it was done within the hour, no question, not a second thought, I'll especially miss that birthday beer, yours just being two days before mine. Rest peacefully my friend My deepest sympathies again to you Mr and Mrs Honan, Kevin and Colleen, and the rest of Brians wonderful family

To the Honan Family and friends,

My deepest symathy goes out to you at this time. Brian was a great neighbor, politician, and friend of all the Allston/Brighton community. To the Honan's:

Neither the magnitude of your loss nor the breath of your grief will ever be known. Yet the elegance of your son will always evoke a picture of courage and civility in the lives he touched. I hope life's journey takes you forward that the beauty of your sons life will be remembered when the sunrises, the moon shines and the sounds of children crest your ear as you wake. Life is not missed when one is gone, but only when one is not remembered. I trust your son in all his splendor will always be remembered.

With greates sympathy

I worked on Brian's first campaign for City Council in the fall of 1995. I have very fond memories of countless afternoons spent with Brian and John Hoffman door-knocking all over Allston and Brighton, attending various political events and eating many Suzi-Q's. :)

Although I have only seen Brian a few times since I moved away from Boston, he always did---and does---hold a special place in my heart.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Honan family.

Dear Honan Family & Close Friends of Brian:

I was so saddened to hear about Brian. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I met Brian on the basketball court at the West End House where I played in the "Kevin Honan Women's League" for many years before moving to Maine. He was such a great guy - always with a smile & a kind word! May your memories of him give you peace & the fact that he was loved by so many bring you comfort.

To the Honans (and their extended family):

I last saw Brian last spring when I was up at W. Roxbury High collecting signatures for AG. Brian was standing in the middle of the hallway & said, "I'll sign yours, if you sign mine", he chuckled & he signed. He was such a good natured, funny guy & always cracked a joke when I saw him.

We are so sorry for your loss, we will miss him as a person & for the great DA we know he would have made.

With deepest sympathy,

To the entire Honan family and to all of Brian's Colleagues and friends:

Michael and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Brian's passing when we woke up on Wednesday morning. I had justed sent off an email to Brian on Monday wishing him a speedy recovery. Although we are neighbors of his parents, I only had the pleasure of meeting Brian once, at my daughter's "Step-Up" day at the North Zone Early Learning Center. I also had the chance to speak with him on the phone regarding other public school choices and he was attentive and supportive.

His future was bright and he will sorely missed by the Allston/Brighton community.

Fondly,

Kathleen, Michael & Georgia Okolita

Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Honan, Kevin and Clare,

Our deepest condolences to the whole family. We had the honor and privilege of knowing Brian through his campaign for DA. We will always remember Brian for his kindness, honesty, hardwork and dedication to the people. Words are not enough to express how we feel, but even in his time of passing, he still continues to put a smile on our face just by remembering Brian and his smile.

Always,

I can't express the shock I felt when I heard of Brian's death. As an old friend of all of the Honan's, growing up with him and Kevin, and Claire, it is a great loss, not only to the City of Boston, but to all the people who knew and respected Brian. Days at the West End House, the courts and little league at Ringer's playground, they all come back to a happy memory today. Thank you Brian for all that you did.

As one who speaks with large numbers of the local public every day, I know that Brian has been revered in this community which is now shocked and saddened to lose him.

As a 47 year old who has met Brian at numerous local business and fund raising events, let me say I found Brian to exude the gentlemanly class that we hope our children will aspire to.

And finally, having lost my own dear brother some 27 years ago, I wish to express to the Honan family my deep condolences. Be assured that time heals and memories tend to hold the best of everything in the clearest light.

Brian, rest in peace - you sir, have made a huge and wonderful difference in countless numbers of lives.

I just recently met Brian while he was campaigning for D.A and found him to be a kind man with a great sense of humor. I especially liked the fact that he wasn't into politics for notariety but because he really did want to make a difference. I joked with him one night as I introduced him to my cousin from CT. I told him he didn't have to bother with him because he wasn't from Suffolk County. Brian laughed but made it a point throughout the night to talk with my cousin and was still interested in what he had to say. He was a sincere and down to earth type of person and I am sad to see him go. Although his life on earth was short, he touched many lives while he was here. May you all find comfort in knowing that He nows lies in the arms of our Savior. God bless you!

Brian was the example many of us could look to. Brian and the Honan family have provided a lot of opportunities for our kids. We have been fortunate to know him. We will miss him.

Please accept my sincerest sympathies on the passing of Brian. I had the honor to get to know him over the last months as he ran for D.A.campaigning in Winthrop. He just recently attended a Block Party on my street in Winthrop, as my guest he was charming and well received by my neighbors. He was a true public servant who made a difference. Brian was a person who viewed and lived life as it is supposed to be lived; with integrity, a great deal of energy, and a chuckle. He could tell a story like no one else. Although I now live in Texas, Brian was always there for me (and anyone else). He is the best kind of friend, complete and permanent. Although he has left us prematurely, he will be with us forever. Our hearts ache for your family and friends but our chuckles will contiue forever thanks to your presence. I will miss you, Johnny Holiday.

I am Brian's uncle. I just read the notes added here as of noon Thu 1 Aug, have printed them out to share immediately with his parents & siblings. I just wanted to thank those who already have written and to encourage others to write. I will print them from time to time, share them with my family. I'm sure your efforts will provide additional solace in this awful time of losing one so young and full of promise.

I am from Brighton and I went to St. Columbkilles with Brian. I always remember Mr. Honan (Brians father) at church. Brian was very bright with a great sense of humor. He commanded a great skill in basketball . The opposing players would be confused by his strategy. Brian had a knack for knowing which musical artists were going to still be around and who would be the one hit wonders. He also had an uncanny ability to remember music lyrics and peoples names. He rode his bike between the Boys Club and Rogers Park smiling and saying hello to everyone in between. Brian would always be willing to lend a hand with anything . In the years that followed, He and his brother Kevin were always good friends to our family. To the Honan Family I send my most sincere sympathy along with all the Sullivans (Karen,Cookie,Buddy,Brian,Kevin,John,Julie,Jimmy,Stephen and my mother Anne Sullivan)

Brian was a great guy. Having coached him at St. Columbkille in basketball for four years, I saw him grow into a person of great character.

I saw Brian a number times over the last year as he worked the campaign trail. He was a hard working, dedicated public official who will not only be missed by the people he served, but by all those who knew him over the years.

God bless.

Brian, one of my very first friends in political life, how very much you will be missed. Though months have passed since we saw each other (tough campaigning schedules can do that) your face and the memories are so fresh in my mind. Whether it was Natalie's Pizza, listening to albums, drinking downtown, celebrating the holidays, helping you think about fundraising, campaigning, trying to find my car that had been towed in the neighborhood - the memories make it impossible to believe that you'll never walk through the door again. You are missed already and will be for a very long time. Thank you so very much for being my friend.
