Glenda WILCOX MILEWSKI

WILCOX MILEWSKI, Glenda Designer, educator, mentor, wife and friend, passed away peacefully, on October 14, at age 82, after battling the effects of Parkinson's disease.

Born in Westerly, RI, she grew up in Sharon, MA and went on to earn a degree in Interior Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Arriving in Boston after college, Glenda secured a position with Business Interiors, a Boston based Steelcase dealership, eventually heading their interiors department, before starting her own commercial design practice in 1990. She also served on the board of the Boston chapter of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD), where she encouraged ongoing professional development education for practicing commercial designers.

For 20 years Glenda contributed to the field of design education, working as an adjunct faculty member at The New England School of Art & Design in Boston, where she was well known for sharing her passion for integrity and design excellence with students in her Commercial Design and Historic Preservation studios. Glenda co-chaired the Interior Design department from 1995-1997 and helped facilitate the school's merger with Suffolk University in 1996.

After retiring from the design profession and academia, Glenda became an active member of the Friends of Cary Library in Lexington, MA, volunteering her time organizing donations for the highly regarded annual Cary book sale.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dick Milewski. Together they shared a home in Lexington, MA, as well as a second (ancestral) home in Rangeley, ME. Glenda was a cousin of well-known Rangely fly-tier, Bud Wilcox.

Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley, ME, in the Spring of 2026 and a celebration of Glenda's life will take place in the Boston area, at a future date. Please contact Marg Dion at DionDesignAssociates@gmail.com for more information.
