LOIS TAYLOR Obituary

TAYLOR, Lois Langer Lois Langer Taylor, of Centerville, MA, died of natural causes on November 4, 2025, at 93. Lois is survived by her children, Patricia Taylor and her husband Allen Kennedy of New York City, Shaw Taylor of Centerville, Rev. Herbert Taylor and his wife, Sarah of York, Maine, Rev. John Taylor and his wife, Mary Beth of Centerville, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Her first husband Rev. Blaine Taylor, who died in 1994, her second husband, Warren Field, who died in 2020, her sister Pattricia Baril, and her parents, Herbert and Ethel Langer predeceased her. Lois was born in Webster, MA on November 22, 1931, and grew up in Oxford, MA, where she met her husband, Blaine. They were married in 1953 after Lois' graduation from Massachusetts College of Art. They lived in Maine, New York and New Jersey, before settling in 1961 in Sudbury, MA where Blaine served the Sudbury United Methodist Church (UMC). In 1967 they moved to Worcester, MA where Blaine served Wesley UMC and where Lois taught art at Burncoat Junior High. In 1986 they moved to Centerville where Blaine served the UMC of Osterville. Lois gave her time, voice, heart and soul to the UMC of Osterville and was a constant and committed member, involved in all aspects of the life of the church. She also was active with many organizations including the Cape Cod Foundation, Osterville Garden Club, Church Women United and much more. Lois and Blaine also founded the Isaiah Thomas Bookstore in Worcester in 1969 that then moved to Cotuit, MA on Cape Cod in 1989 and still operates today. Lois was a talented artist, avid Celtics fan, and loved traveling, ice cream and lobster rolls. Lois was also a philanthropist to many organizations, and with her husband Blaine started the Blaine and Lois Taylor fellowship which through the Preachers Aid Society provides grants to retired pastors in need. Over 75 pastors have been helped over the last 30 years and approximately $500,000 has been given out. Through it all, her focus was on her family as can be seen in the hundreds of scrapbooks of her children and grandchildren and the many, many photo collages she made, celebrating every year of family activity and milestones. Lois' life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8th at 11am at the UMC of Osterville (57 Pond St., Osterville, MA 02655) with calling hours on Friday, November 7th from 5 to 7pm (also at the church). Lois and the family ask that donations in her memory be given to the United Methodist Church of Osterville (designated to the mortgage fund).

My heartfelt condolences to all of the family. Lois was such a sweet woman who will always hold a special place in my heart as her late husband Blaine was the pastor at UMC Osterville when my family and I moved to Cape Cod. May Lois rest in peace.
