I just now hear about "Mr.Dusku's" (as he was fondly know as at the Dearborn Middle School where he taught math.
Looking back, Mr. Dusku was a phenomenal teacher that never gave up on a student simply because they couldn't keep up. I remember there were about 4 or 5 kids that couldn't grasp the lesson he was teaching and rather than keep moving on, he stopped the lesson and made it into a game of sorts that allowed those students to grasp his lesson plan at the same time keeping the other students engaged in his swivel in lesson. He was an amazing teacher and an even better person.
I grew up in South Boston and sure the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, I turned to notice him and his family walking though the housing projects(where alot of his student came from) and was greeted with cheers of "Heyy, Mr. Dushku!!" telling him of the best spots to watch the parade.
I know this is a few yrs too late buy my sympathies and heartfelt condolences go to his entire family. I've known him only the cple of years that I attended the Dearborn Middle School but his lessons not only in math, but the in between things are fresh in my memory. He definitely left an impression and the one thing that sticks with me is that nothing is impossible. RIP Mr. D!

Damn, I am just learning about this a year later, alas, and am very sorry to hear it. Phil was a close friend long ago and just a hugely helpful and thoughtful and considerate guy, funny and equable in the way teachers can be. I am a little at a loss for words thinking of a world without his positive energy and disposition.

So sorry for your loss. Philip was one of our first tenants in Watertown. He was always so thoughtful and helpful. A very nice friend who kept in touch over the years. Sincerely Maurice and Jackie Ourfalian.

I will miss Philips sense of humor and sense of family. I thank him for his support that spanned from childhood to adulthood. I thought of Philip as an older brother, but better. A brother that I could lovingly exchange verbal barbs with or dance the night away safely knowing Philip was watching over me in the distance. Love Doug & Elaina Schulman
