PHYLLIS GREENE Obituary

GREENE, Phyllis D. Died gracefully, on November 12, 2025, in her bedroom at "River House," overlooking the banks of the Ipswich River. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New York City, on January 20, 1949, to Tom and Eleanor Dewart, of Greenwich, Connecticut, where she spent her early years. She graduated from Greenwich Country Day School, where several lifelong friendships were made. Phyllis graduated from Westover School (Middlebury, CT) and the New York School of Interior Design. This led to a long and successful career in that field. She moved to Boston in 1970 to manage the showroom of Greeff Fabrics and then started her own interior design firm, PDG Interiors. She worked with the same clients repeatedly over the years, which is a testament to the excellence and integrity of her work. Phyllis knew how to make the world more beautiful, and she applied that vision to her design work, to creating flower gardens and to volunteer work. She loved animals, especially horses and cats. When she was young and participating in horse shows, Phyllis was known as that "little girl with the big stride." That proved to be an apt description of her: small in stature, yet her feisty strength of will ran deep. Phyllis had many friends from many places. Many knew of her golfing prowess and admired her competitive spirit. Others were part of a church community that she loved. Family was a central part of her life, and there are many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews, who have benefited from her love and sense of refinement. May she rest in peace and wander on the fescue-lined fairways just beyond the horizon. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael Greene; a sister, Wynne Killebrew, of New Canaan, CT; and was predeceased by another sister, Mary Dooney, of Hobe Sound, FL. A Celebration of Phyllis' Life will be held in the Spring. If you are so inclined, please consider donating in her honor to Windrush Farm (therapeutic equitation), 479 Lacy Street, North Andover, MA 01845.

Yesterday

I loved her much used expression, "I had to laugh when...". I will miss her laugh along with everything else she was.

My memories are from a long time ago, but it looks as though she was a wonderful person who led a great life. One can´t ask for much more than that.
