I have very fond and cherished memories of the Church family during my childhood years growing-up in the North End of Boston. Bobby's mother, Helen, was a dear friend of my mother, Emily and both enjoyed their involvement at the North End Union. Bobby was several years older than I (I was nearer to his younger sister, Barbara's age) but I can recall when he worked at Martignetti's store on Salem Street and would sneak some of the store's, home-brined, green olives to me. I also remember when he was the neighborhood contact to unlock the Prince Street Christopher Columbus Athletic Center on Saturday mornings and let me and my friends into the gym to play basketball. I also remember the hours we spent playing "Freeze", "Hide and Seek", "Buck, Buck" and "Errors" in the dead-end street of Wesley Place. And, when the girls took over the end of that street to play hopscotch and jump rope, we boys waited our turn to play ball while eating boiled crabs and periwinkles (sold on the corner), salted pumpkin seeds and both the soft and hard kind of "cicedeese" (chick peas). During Bobby's adult years he became a very talented chef and worked at numerous restaurants in the Boston area. We always patronized his restaurants (even the one in New Hampshire) and knew that we would always receive a quality and tasty meal. Memories of his Veal Francese and Ciopinno transport me to a state of nirvana. Years later, Bobby moved to Los Angeles and became a "cook to the stars". I recall that when Kaye Ballard visited his mother's home in the North End, he invited me to be introduced to her and I excitedly climbed the flight of stairs to his mother's apartment in Wesley Place to meet a real, Hollywood star. Bobby was always thinking about how he could make his life grander and more exciting and share that with his friends. Throughout his life he remained a convivial and very entertaining fellow who always enjoyed telling a story and bringing other into the conversation. While most of us living in the North End had our sights on what was directly ahead of us, that was not enough for Bobby. He was motivated to stand on his toes, climb a ladder or shimmy-up a pole to see what more life had to offer. He is truly missed but the memories of him, his sisters and his parents will forever remain in our hearts.

Bobby's memory will be in my heart forever. He was and will always be one of a kind. He was so caring and genuine. What you saw is what you got. People like him don't come along too often. He would give you the shirt off his back and lived life his way. I'm sure we'll meet again....Foots

Rosemary & Barbara: I will be out of town on Saturday and will be unable to attend Bobby's memorial service. I have some very happy memories of Bobby, you, your folks and the fun times we had hanging-out in Wesley Place. One thing was certain about Bobby, he strove to live life to the fullest and in many ways he succeeded. Quite a few stars of film and stage made their way to Wesley Pl. to meet Bobby's family. On behalf of my family (esp. my mother, Emily who was good friend of your mom's) and me, please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss. Bob Dello Russo
