Sally,The world is a little smaller now without Charlie.  It was always a treat when he was around; his crusty observations made us all laugh but were usually right on target.  He lived it as he saw it and that is truly a rare quality.   Charlie will live on in our memories for a long time.

I will always remember Charlie on his trips to Harvard to visit the Family. He was one of a very few people that could leave the Boston life for a weekend, and come out to Harvard and help with various Farming events. He was a hard worker at it and always chipped right in. Sally, he was ready to go to his next destination. I will never forget Charlie and we might all meet with him again.

There are stars up above,
so far away we only see their light
long, long after the star itself is gone
And so it is, with people that we love
their memories keep shining,
ever brightly though their time with us has passed
And the stars that light up the darkest night,
these are the lights that guide us.

Charlie, I have no doubt that you will be the brightest light of all, guiding us now as you have always.

It was my pleasure to know you.

with love

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

the happiest we saw Charlie was doing a hop n pop demo, 4th of July in Danvers with Captain Eddie flying.
the angriest: Sally cutting away her brand new canopy. I believe he found it and reattached it, of course.

I celebrate his life (he lived a full one) and see it extended through the lives he touched - and saved - by being him.

My condolenses to Sally and the rest of their family.

Love you Charlie!! He was always there to answer questions about skydiving to a non-skydiver. Gruff as he was, he was an inspiration to alot of new and old skydivers and to us who became part of the skydiving community in Pepperell. I will miss you Charlie!!!! Rest in Peace, we will meet again. God Bless You Sally, may you take comfort in knowing that he loved you and that you both are loved by many.

For the many years I skydived at Pepperell, I loved watching Charlie's interaction with new-be's. As someone previously posted, he would always help them to pack... in his own Charlie way. That person would be frozen in shock at his way of helping, while the rest of us in the hangar would be giggling. We all knew Charlie and knew that this was his way of helping and mentoring. We have all learned something from him... we are going to miss you Charlie, but we will never forget you.

Charlie, thank you for your blunt assessments and salt-of-the-earth humor. Many of us are alive today because of it. You were the embodiment of common sense. I wish more of it had rubbed off on me!

I'll miss you, Charlie. You fought hard, as we all knew you would, but even you would have to rest eventually.

As others have said, Charlie had a gruff exterior, but I'm glad to have known him as the good and gentle man he was.

Blue skies, Charlie.

I'll always remember the day I met Charlie. I was a brand new A-licensed skydiver and he came to help me with gear. Always Charlie was there to lend a helping hand, and a wealth of knowledge and experience. He treated everyone at Pepperell like family, and watched out for us all. He deeply loved Sally and was very proud of her. So many times I saw the love in his eyes as he watched her gracefully land upon the field. It was a joy to witness that brief glance, especially since Charlie was not one to display sentimentality. He will be sincerely missed.

Though I can't say I knew him well, Charlie will nonetheless always live in my memory as a genuine and colorful character. A man of a million stories. A man who made a definite impression on most who met him. A man who I suspect tasted more of life than most folks will ever come close to.

My life was made a little richer by having been acquainted with Charlie, and I will miss him.

To those who loved him most and knew him best; I mourn your loss, and raise a glass to Charlie's life.

Love you Charlie!! I first met Charlie at Pepperell when I started skydiving in '94. I was learning to pack my own parachute and Charlie was watching me. He came over to me and grabbed my parachute and asked me if I wanted to die. He told me if I continued to pack this way, that is what would happen. He then took the time to show me how he thought I should pack. I had lots of laughs over the years watching him do the same thing to other new skydivers. Charlie had a very loving and sensitive soul behind the rough exterior! Our kids counted on a free ice cream from "uncle" Charlie whenever we were at the DZ as a family. So many great memories!!
We'll miss you Charlie, from one of your trollops!
