Cardinal in Winter
To the Clavette family. Words cannot express our sorrow at your loss. Both our daughter (now 13 and a student at the Pierce Middle School) and our son (9) were fortunate to have Ms. Clavette as their art teacher at Glover School.

My daughter appreciated how Caitlin encouraged each student to find their own artistic voice and gave them confidence to do so. The art projects they created together, especially the cardinal in winter and the mirrored ink prints, will be vivid imprints of Caitlin's impact on our lives.

To the Clavette Family,

We are so very sorry for your enormous loss. Both of our daughters told us how nice Ms. Clavette was to them. She has been our 7 year old's art teacher at Cunningham since kindergarten and she will truly miss Ms. Clavette, who she described as nice, fun, and "a grown up who smiles at kids in the hallway."
We hope it brings you some comfort to know how beloved she was by the children that she taught.

She was beautiful, kind, had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. This is the way I'll always remember Caitlin: a great soul with a big smile, and a guileless, open heart. She was ever the artist looking for a canvass, which might be anything from an odd leaf to an abandoned tricycle that she could ride around in madly accelerated circles. A tough triathlete with a taste for ice cream and "maybe sleeping in a bit". Strong and sweet and fond of picturesque prose, she loved the kids she taught and was proud when their sketched dragons showed that her lesson on perspective had worked like a charm. We know the world can be cruel because you are no longer in it. We love you; we miss you.

I worked with Caitlin's mother at Lahey. We often shared stories about our kids. Louanne lit up when she talked about her kids. I always enjoyed hearing about their adventures. I visited Louanne's home on many occasions and saw much of the work Caitlin did at Wm and Mary. My favorite was one that she did of a fish on a kitchen counter made from different shades of torn paper. What a talent!

Louanne's was thrilled that her daughter attended school there and spoke of how happy Caitliln was there.

Caitlin touched many lives with her love and that special way she had about her. Such qualities are rare and never forgotten by those whom she touched.

This bitter pill to swallow seems and, in fact, is inexpressibly so unfair. I will pray for Caitlin every day of my life for the rest of my life. I will pray for her entire family that they can support one another through this terrible pain.

I can tell you this, Louanne and family. You are truly loved by all who know your greatness as a family. I know that God will walk with you as you travel together through this unspeakable grief.

God bless you all.

Sincere condolences,
