Arthur Luigi Quaglieri

Died suddenly at home on Wednesday August 27th. He was born to Emma and Lorenzo, who immigrated from Isola Del Liri, Italy and arrived in Boston in the early 1900's. Both Emma and Lorenzo were employed in Dorchester as tailors for the Faber Company. Arthur was born April 4th, 1928, the 6th child, in a family of 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He was raised in Roxbury and then Roslindale. He graduated from Boston Latin in 1944 and was accepted at Northeastern University at the age of 16, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1949. At Northeastern he earned an academic scholarship to the Harvard Graduate School of Engineering and graduated from Harvard Summa Cum Laude, the same year he married Muriel Franz (they later moved to Norwood, MA). He immediately enlisted in the Army and was sent to boot camp at Fort Dix; New Jersey. He was in the Army's 45th Division, in the 39th Infantry Regiment. As a Second Lieutenant, he was sent to Korea where he was stationed at the Punchbowl for 2 years. He was promoted to First Lieutenant and received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, one Overseas bar, and the UN Service Medal. After the Korean War he worked for the Camp Dresser & McKee, then Raytheon and Camp Dresser & McKee again, as a project engineer for water treatment designs in Taipei, Taiwan, the Hague, Netherlands and in Egypt. He was also the design and build project Engineer for the world`s largest hazardous waste incinerator plant, located in Chicago, Illinois for Waste Management Corp. Locally he headed Nianza in Ashland and Baird & Maguir in Holbrook, both hazardous waste Superfund site clean ups for Camp Dresser & McKee. He retired in 1991 to Taunton to take care of his ailing wife in his retirement and until his death he was the Civil Engineer for B.I.G. Corp and Norfolk Engineering, a company owned by his son, Alan. Husband of the late Muriel Quaglieri and father of the late Arthur Lawrence Quaglieri, Arthur is survived by 3 daughters, Janet Consalvo of Taunton, MA, Jeanne Ego of Taunton, MA, Lois Webber of Fryeburg, ME, and one son Alan Quaglieri of Walpole. He is also survived by one brother John Dario of Beverly, MA. Funeral fron the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORW000, Thurs., Sept. 4 at 8 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood at 9 AM.
