PUBLICOVER, Robert "Bob" 63, of Somerville, December 31, 2012 passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of family and friends. Former owner/editor of the Somerville News. Co-founder of Somerville High Scholarship Fund, member of the Somerville Home, Board of Trustees, and was both prominent and respected in local politics. Proud member of the Masons (King Solomon's Lodge) and much adored Dad Advisor with the Boston Chapter of DeMolay. In his lifetime he was proudest of his AIDS work. He was also known as the country's longest living AIDS survivor and founded The Committee For A Response To AIDS. He never stopped working to provide support and educate people about the disease. Beloved husband of David Le Bahn. Loving brother of Marilyn Publicover, Ken Publicover and his wife Mary. Brother in law of Margo Grace and her husband Charles, Ruth Howell and her husband Brian. Dear uncle of Al, Jr, Bill, Mike Schleappe, Darlane Crow, Kenny and Tony Publicover, C.J., James and Elliott Grace, Abagail Howell and the late Steve Schleappe. Son in law of David LeBahn, Sr. Dearest friend of the Carabineras and Lewis Families. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his former partner John H. Carabineras. Funeral procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) SOMERVILLE, Saturday morning at 11:00 am followed by a Graveside service and interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
