Wil was a wonderfully unique and courageous man. I have included his WW II B 17 heroism and the tragedy of his loss of SiSi, his daughter, in my book as a testament to him. Mike Flynn

Wil was a wonderful man. He embodied all the qualities that make a human being exceptional. Love, courage, faithful to his family, friendly to all and always a kind word to all. Served his country as a B 17 pilot with all the attributes that make a true warrior / soldier. One of the best you could ever meet.

Dear Mrs.Smyly, Jim and family, I will always remember Wil and my tenure at Smyly Buick. Enjoyed his stories of WW11 and those of the auto business in the 50's. What a kick he got out of the classic car shows we had. My sincere condolences

Dear Mrs. Smyly and Family,
I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Smyly passing away. I will always remember his kindness and patriotism. As a teen, I always enjoyed working in the yard at my parents’ house. Wil also enjoyed puttering around his yard (in trademark baseball cap and khakis) and always took the time to chat and offer bits of wisdom. A beautiful American flag always waved proudly on a tall white pole in his front yard. One of my summer jobs as a teen was at Smyly Buick – very inspiring.
Mrs. Smyly, while my parents are in Australia for several weeks, I have tried to alert them via email.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
Sincerely,
Adam Powers

Dear Ellie; Sue & I were saddened to hear of Wil's passing. One of my fondest (& funniest)memories involves the time when Mike Flynn & I were invited by Will to your home in Oyster Harbor to have a session with a "sports Psychologist" whom Will had hired to improve his golf game. We were all pathetic after the lesson but Mike & I laughed all the way home about that session, & I can still hear Wil saying "Its a sickness Mike" referring to his golf game & the number of clubs he kept in the garage. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor, & will be missed by many.

I had the rare privilege of having Wil as a friend and the satisfaction of his business expertise and integrity. We shared the same birth day, May 16, not the same year. Wil was a charitable, thoughtful man. He will be missed.
