DR.  LEO T. MCCALLUM M.D. Obituary
McCallum, Dr. Leo T., M.D. Age 81, a longtime resident of Framingham, passed away, Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center, Framingham. The same hospital he was born in and worked at for over 50 years. He was the son of the late William C. and Margaret L. (Ryan) McCallum. Husband of Brenda T. (Gill) McCallum of Framingham. Father of William C. McCallum and his wife Jennifer of Newton, Leo T. "Tom" McCallum, Jr. and his wife Katrinka of Morrisville, N.C., John H. McCallum and his partner Nancy of Rowley, and David J. McCallum and his wife Jamie of Dedham. Loving grandfather of Victoria, Cassandra, Nicole, Christine, Lachlan, Declan, Ryan, Haydn, Bridget and Taylor. Graduate of Framingham schools, he was a multi-sport athlete and a top student. Received a full scholarship to Yale University and graduated in 1954. Also receive a Fulbright Scholarship to the London School of Economics prior to returning to Yale University where he earned his Medical Degree in 1958. He interned and began practicing medicine in Boston area hospitals before returning to Framingham in the 1960's. Dr. McCallum proudly served as a surgeon during the Vietnam War, with the rank of Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army. During his surgical career that spanned over fifty years, Dr. McCallum received numerous awards recognizing his contributions to medicine and touched many lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the to support the research and medical advances toward which he dedicated his career or in his honor to the Yale University, School of Medicine. Funeral Mass Saturday April 5, at 10 AM in St. Stephen's Parish, 221 Concord St., Framingham. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fenwick St., Framingham.
