I first met Mitch 15 years ago when we played on the same Boston area over 30 baseball team. We played together for about 8 years. There's something about being able to play a game you loved as a kid into your adulthood...you feel lucky to be able to do such a thing. Mitch felt the same way. We witnessed Mitch perform feats at 3rd base where we would just say "did he just do that?" A game in Lynn where he superman dived a scorched one-hopper to his right, popped up lickety-split and threw a laser to 1st base for the out stands out. Where that quickness came from I have no idea...that was 11 years ago.
His love for his boys trumped everything though. Whether on the diamond or the golf course, he always found a way to get them into the conversation.
He built me 2 bookcases for my home office. I don't consider them furniture so much as pieces of art, they are that good. A true craftsman in that regard.
Work travel inhibited me from attending the services. My deepest sympathies for the boys, Gretchen, and the whole Nash family. Mitch was truly one of the good ones.

I came to know Mitch as teammate and opponent on several baseball teams. He was a true gentleman, and always came to the games with an infectious, positive attitude. He will be missed by all who shared the diamond with him. My prayers to his family.

The greatest guy to watch a Red Sox game with. I knew Mitch socially as an adult in Brighton. He stood out to me because He was so quietly knowledgeable about baseball. I knew he must have been a great player. He also had an overwhelming kindness and gentleness to all. It was never about him. It was all about you with him. He listened. He understood. Thanks Mitch. In kindergarten, I was Mitch's first friend at Underwood. By the 5th grade, we realized that both of us loved the game of baseball! Our friendship continued through high school, and we had a lot of fun times together.
He went on to the Boston Park League and he always told me to follow him there, with Mike Lyons, and our baseball mentor, B. Bardo. At righty at Bird Park, we were always on the same team. We also played basketball games there, and Mitch not only excelled at baseball, he was great at basketball too. We also played on the football team together and he was great at football too. Just a great all around athlete and person. I can't believe he is gone at such a young age.
To the Nash family, may your happy memories of Mitch get you through these hard times. So sorry for your loss. He'll be joining the baseball team in heaven.

I loved that guy.
I was a teammate of Mitch's on 4 over-30/40/50 baseball teams over a span of 14 years. Mitch mostly played 3B, and me SS, so we were usually side-by-side. I always had friendly chats and conversations with Mitch throughout the game, whether on the field or on the bench...those conversations were almost never about baseball.
No matter which teams we played on, we somehow managed to follow each other around the league thru the years. It always perked me up to see him at the games - we had a good friendship.
A friendly, gentle guy. Kind soul. Everyone liked Mitch.
Two handsome sons whom he loved deeply and spoke of constantly, and a wonderful former partner in Gretchen, whom I luckily came to know thru the years. My daughter Elizabeth was 3 years old when I met Mitch...she recently graduated HS. She mourns his passing as well.
I am playing in a baseball game with Mitch's team the night of his wake - a game Mitch was supposed to play. I have asked the manager to let me play 3B in Mitch's honor, and he granted that wish. It won't be the same without him, and I'm not the player he was, but I will think of him and do my best.
A sad loss for everyone who knew Mitch. Great guy, great dad, good friend. I will think of him every time I step out on the field. Peace and my sincere condolences to his lovely family.

Don't think I ever said hello to Mitch in passing. We always found a way to have a conversation. Mitch was that guy everyone wanted to be around and could put me in a good mood just by his presence.
My condolences to all who had the fortune of being closest to him. I'll miss Mitch greatly and hope to feel that happiness in his memory as I did in his company.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Nash family. Growing up across the street was so much fun! Mitchie had the most beautiful smile, which he carried into adulthood! My hope is that your wonderful memories and the closeness of the love you all had for one another will ease the pain of the difficult weeks and months you all have ahead of you as you grieve. Remember his smile and the sound of his laugh, it will carry you in your darkest moments.

I am deeply saddened and devastated by the passing of Mitch. My deepest sympathies to the Nash family. Mitch and I became friends in a funny way. Mitch was a phenomenal pitcher and we played on rival teams. I would holler things to him to try to get him off his game, to no avail. When it was my time to bat, it was three quick strikes and back to the bench I went, yelling louder than before. Then, a couple of months later, Mitch and I made the same All Star team. I was one of the first players to show up to our first practice, putting my cleats on. Mitch comes walking in the park and we just look at each other. I walked over to him, smiled, and extended my hand and said: "I'm glad you're on my side now"! He smiled ear to ear, and like the true classy guy he was, shook my hand. We have been baseball buddies ever since. I will (and already do) miss you my friend.
