BARBARA V. PEDERSEN

1922 - 2018

PEDERSEN, Barbara V. (Hansen) 96, of Needham, passed away on April 23, 2018 at North Hill. Barbara was born in Belmont, MA to Alfred and Lillian Hansen and in August of 1945 married Richard J. Pedersen. They resided in their Needham home from 1954 until Dick's passing in April of 2009. Barbara was a registered dental hygienist and worked for the Town of Belmont for 18 years before her retirement in 1981. Survivors include a daughter: Janet S. Pedersen Kubitz and her husband, Frederick (Rick) Kubitz, of Framingham, MA; a son; Mark S. Pedersen and his husband, Rod Howe, of Ithaca, NY; five grandchildren: Janel Lato (Leslie Hero) of Albequerque, NM; Veasna Pedersen (Anna Pedersen) of Ithaca, NY; Kendal Kubitz of Portland, OR; Alyssa Kubitz of Somerville, MA; and Sethik Howe of Syracuse, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Dian C. Pedersen and son, R. Scott Pedersen. An informal gathering to honor Barbara will be held on May 19, 2018 from 4-6 PM in the parlor of First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Needham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Parish of Needham, 23 Dedham Ave., Needham, MA 02492.
