'Mr. Hood' was our gym teacher at Farragut Avenue Elementary School in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. He started an after school intramural program that included basketball and track and all of us took full advantage of it. He would have the homerooms in grades 4-5-6 compete against each other, and hung the results up in each grade's hallway on a scoreboards I'm sure he made. There was a trophy that went on the teacher's desk awarded to the top-finishing homeroom team. We learned a lot of things about sportsmanship, teamwork, and what was involved with the sport we were playing at the time. I'm about to retire from teaching myself, and Mr. Hood's dedication is something that I find myself remembering all the time.
Thanks Mr. Hood for providing all the positives!

Mr. Hood was my daughter's PE teacher for many years at Lincoln Elementary in Winchester. The kids loved him, especially because he gave them all silly nicknames which somehow made them feel more grown up. Between the PTA and Steve, Field Day at Lincoln was a well oiled machine. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted by the many good memories of his life.
