LEWIS MELCHER Obituary

MELCHER, Lewis C. On Monday, February 8, 2021, Lewis C. Melcher, loving husband of Jeannette Melcher, passed away at the age of 62.

Lew was born on June 19, 1958, in Boston, MA to William and Tina (Jubett) Melcher. He grew up in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School in 1976. In 1996, he married Jeannette and together they enjoyed being parents and grandparents to a growing family. He absolutely relished his role as "Papa" to a growing number of grandchildren and found them all to be the light of his world.

Lew was known for his kind and generous spirit, his warm, beautiful smile, big bear hugs, and terrific sense of humor. Those who knew him loved him, and his capacity for loving in return was immense.

Lew was a Licensed Contractor and finished carpenter, as well as sole owner of his company, Melcher Construction. He was a man of many talents and skills. He was a sensitive soul, who had a passion for working with his hands, whether it be with wood, stone, brick, iron, or food. He relished putting his time into making home-made Christmas and birthday gifts for those he loved, enjoyed restoring and repurposing family heirlooms, and took great pleasure cooking wonderful meals, and together with Jeannette, hosting warm gatherings with family and friends. He was also an artist in the garden, each year lovingly tending to his flowers, trees, and vegetables, taking pride each spring when he could share the bounty of their crop and show off their colorful piece of paradise.

Lew was a member of the Medfield Sportsmen's Club, and his hobbies included shooting, hunting, fishing, golfing, and ice-fishing (the source of many funny stories). He never failed to return from an outing with an amusing story to share! He was passionate about his Boston Bruins, Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He possessed an equal passion for his country. Lew was a true patriot.

Lew was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Tina, and his older brother William "Bill" Melcher. He is survived by his wife Jeannette, and his three stepchildren Kevin Pechavar, Dennis Pechavar, Andrea Pechavar, their grandchildren Den, Aisling and James, his sisters Judy Stevens, Ruth Parker, Tina Pozzi, and Mimi Underwood, as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews, many, many friends, and his beloved companion dog, Bustah.

A Funeral Mass for immediate family is planned for February 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Jude's Church in Norfolk, MA, to be followed by a Burial at Norfolk Cemetery. An online guestbook may be found at:

I remember Lew always having a smile on his face. He was a gifted athlete and was part of a great softball team in HS. Lew and Jimmy were inseparable back then and you never saw one without the other. A kind hearted happy kid is how I’ll always remember sweet Lew. Rest In Peace my brother - AJS
