Harold Alan "Al" Small

Notice Condolences

SMALL Harold Alan “Al”, 75, of Rockland, died May 13, 2016 after a courageous fight against cancer. Alan was born in Aylesford, Nova Scotia and moved to the US with his family in 1952. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1959 and was a member of the Air National Guard Reserves for several years. A Rockland resident since 1977, Alan worked for Eastern Airlines for 35 years and Virgin Atlantic Airways for 15 years retiring in 2010. Alan enjoyed traveling to Nova Scotia every summer to visit his family and lifelong friends. In his younger years, he traveled all over the US while working with the airline industry. Alan spent his spare time with family and friends often watching the Patriots and Red Sox games or playfully debating politics. Alan is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathleen A. (Beary) Small; his mother Frances L. “Bunny” Small of Aylesford, Nova Scotia; his daughter Michelle Small-O’Connor and her husband Matthew of Rockland; his daughter Alyson Harrington and her husband Kevin of Dedham; and his grandson, Conrad Harrington of Dedham, who affectionately called him “grumpa.” Alan was pre-deceased by his father Harold H. Small of Aylesford, Nova Scotia. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and especially his long-time friends from Weymouth. The Small Family would like to invite relatives and friends to join them as they celebrate his life at the Sullivan Funeral Home at 45 East Water Street, ROCKLAND, MA on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
