To the Chesna family and the Weymouth Police Department : words cannot express how Sgt. Chesna's death has ripped through the Town of Weymouth, and the community as a whole. It is my hope through this tragedy that you remember him with fond memories and kind words. Please know that Sgt. Chesna is looking down on all of you and would want happiness for you all after this. In a world with so much adversity, please remember there is more good than bad out there and may God be with all of you during this difficult time. Let his cruiser be visible for the community as it helps bring closure for all who loved him and those who really do appreciate everything that the police do as a whole to keep the community safe. All gave some. Some gave all.

My family is a law enforcement family. My brother is a Sgt. in Warwick, RI. He was at the services today to pay his respects. Please accept my condolences for your tragic loss. There is nothing more honorable than a person who will sacrifice their lives to serve and protect others. Michael did this in the Army and then as a Police Officer. May the light of God's love surround him always and may God bless his family, friends and loved ones. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I do not know Officer Chesna or his family but the news of his passing deeply saddens me. A man who would devote his life to serving his country and his community can only be described as a true hero. His love and dedication to his country is absolutely touching and inspirational. My heart breaks for his beautiful wife and children as well as the rest of his family. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you all must be going through. Know that we mourn with you. Kids, know that your dad was a real life hero. Know that news of his passing is felt in communities far and wide. His sacrifice will not be forgotten. He will not be forgotten. I am from South Yarmouth where we are all still trying to recover from the loss of our treasured Sgt. Sean Gannon. My late husband served with the Norwood Police Department for thirty nine years until his illness forced him into retirement.
I consider all that know and have loved our brave law enforcement officers as brothers and sisters. While I can not attest to your pain and that of your family I can definitely relate to the tragic and needless loss that you and your family have been forced to endure.
