Robert Y. "Sarge" Haley Notice
HALEY Robert Y. "Sarge," of Randolph, formerly of So. Boston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and close friends on August 25, 2017, after a long illness, at the age of 63. Sarge had just recently retired after an illustrious 35-year career with Boston Emergency Medical Services. During his career with Boston EMS, he was a Nationally Registered EMT and was a sought after advisor and logistics specialist for disasters both locally, nationally and internationally, most notably; Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Andrew, The September 11th Attacks, and more recently the Boston Marathon Bombing. As a Captain and Director of Special Operations for Boston EMS, he coordinated medical coverage for such events as The Boston Marathon, Boston's 4th of July Spectacular, and First Night. He was a former Executive Board Member and Representative for the B.P.P.A./EMS Division, a member of the B.A.A.'s Race Committee, and a member of the Disaster Medical Assistance Team. Sarge has received numerous accolades and awards for his service over the years, including (2) Steven Lawler Awards for Collaborative Practice, the Henry L. Shattuck Award, which is the highest award in the City of Boston for Public Service, the Revere Award from the Boston Public Health Commission, and the Logan Stars Award from the Massport Authority. A dedicated husband, father, son, and friend, Robert will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Robert was the beloved husband of Constance "Conni" (Machado) Haley. Loving father of Rob Haley, Gena Haley, and Gillian Haley all of Randolph. Dear son of Claire DeFranco and stepson of Bobby DeFranco (deceased), both of Quincy. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St., (Rt. 28), Randolph until 9:15 AM on Wednesday, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, 1031 No. Main St., Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00 -8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
