Mark Douglass Myers passed away on June 14, 2008, after a courageous battle with metastatic renal cell cancer.
With an extensive career in retail grocery business, Mark's employment with Smith's Food Stores provided him and his family the opportunity to live in Tucson, Ariz., Lakeside, Mont., as well as Belgrade.
He was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on July 29, 1960, to proud parents, William D. Myers and Patricia Jo (Botts) Myers, who both preceded him in death.
Mark leaves behind his wife of 22 years, J'Neanne A. Myers, along with his pride and joy, Corbin D. Myers and C'Aira N. Myers. He is survived by sisters, Cecelia Roush (Charles) of Oregon, Jennifer Derrick (Richard, Andrew, Hannah) of Arizona; and brother, Mike Myers of California. Other relatives include Jeanne Myers of Arizona, Doris S. Moore of Arizona, and D'Anna J. Young (Doug, Michael, Rachael) of California. Mark also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Mark's greatest accomplishment next to his two children was graduating from Montana State University on May 11, 2007, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Ironically though, Mark was never able to work in the field he had studied so hard to master. One only hopes the good Lord needs an electrical engineer in heaven and will put his knowledge to good use.
An avid snow skier, fly fisherman and boater, Mark missed the ability to be active and outdoors enjoying Montana's awesomeness during his final weeks of illness.
A celebration of Mark's life will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Belgrade Community Church, with a reception immediately following.
Donations are encouraged to the following organizations in honor of Mark D. I was one of Mark's "fishing buddies" last summer at Reel Recovery. We fished together one afternoon and visited about what was going on, mostly about how he loved all of you and his hopes and dreams. People like Mark are the reason that I go back to help year after year with Reel Recovery, it is my honor to have met and fished with him. God now holds Mark in His arms, all of his pain is left behind. I think that Mark took strength in knowing that you were all there for each other.
