Dale Mantz, 77, of Bozeman, passed away Tuesday, May 7, at his home. Dale was born on Oct. 17, 1935, in Beeler, Kan., to Henry and Delma (Shover) Mantz.

Dale lived in many places including Kansas, Utah, California, Germany, and Montana – attending the "school of hard knocks" along his journey. He held various jobs throughout his life – including selling cars, driving truck, and selling vacuums – he was a great salesman. Dale also served in the Army in the Korean War. Before retirement, Dale owned Montana Industrial Lighting.

Dale enjoyed fishing, telling stories, gambling on horse races, hunting, working on tractors and vehicles, and watching Lawrence Welk and war movies. Dale also loved teaching people how to fix things. He had the greatest sense of humor – loving a great chat and the opportunity to joke around. He never knew a stranger, and he always spoke his mind.

Dale is survived by two daughters, Michelle Mantz of Billings, Mont. and Kathy Mantz of Tremonton, Utah; one son, Mitch Mantz of Billings, Mont.; a sister, JoAnne Miner; two brothers, Bob and Fred Mantz; and two grandchildren.

Interment will take place at Ft. Harrison Veterans Cemetery in Helena, Mont. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. A memorial will follow at 1109 Nelson Rd. in Bozeman at 4:30 p.m.
