John Amos Ridenour, resident of Bozeman, passed away Sept. 2, 2013 at the age of 35. Amos was the committed husband of Elizabeth Ridenour and the dedicated father of Ethan, 6 years old, and Grace, 16 months. He was raised in Virginia by two loving parents, John and Jane Ridenour, with his twin sister, Sara (Ridenour) Anderson.

He was a Gallatin County sheriff's deputy and proudly served as team leader of the Special Response Team. Included among his professional accomplishments are: driving instructor, police bike patrol instructor, field training officer, Missouri River Drug Task Force, Honor Guard, Montana State University Police, and Gallatin County Detention Center. He valued protecting his community and had an extremely positive influence on the public he encountered.

He graduated from Regent University with a bachelor's degree in July 2013.

Most important to Amos was his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his family. Married for 11 years, Amos and Elizabeth truly had the love of a lifetime. He and his best friend, son Ethan, shared a great love of the outdoors and the two were constantly adventure bound and he adored little Grace's spirit and laughter. Amos truly enjoyed activities with his family, particularly rock climbing, snowboarding, surfing, camping, hiking, and fishing. He had a heart for worship music and played the guitar with incredible talent. He has served as a youth leader, played on a worship team, and created a youth worship band.

Amos leaves a legacy of passion for the Lord and true love and commitment to his wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Ethan; daughter, Grace; father and mother, John and Jane Ridenour; sister, Sara (Ridenour) Anderson and brother-in-law, Ryan Anderson; grandparents, Margie and Vernal Wright; in-laws, Mike and Lila Cooper; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Scott Crawford; Amos was hero and uncle to nephews Andrew and Will Crawford.
