87, of Bradenton, FL passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was born January 1, 1930 in Gaffney, South Carolina to the late Jessie and Sadie Bolin. Bonnie graduated from Gaffney high school and Mary Black College of Nursing where she earned her RN degree. While working in Augusta Georgia, Bonnie met her future husband Julius. After marrying in 1951 Bonnie and Julius moved to Florida. Eventually they settled in Bradenton where Bonnie continued her nursing career, first at Manatee Memorial Hospital and later at Manatee Blood bank. Bonnie was a Charter member of West Bradenton Baptist Church and continued to be an active member throughout her life. She will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted wife, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by children, Sandy Battle and Terry Surgnier (Rhonda); grandchildren, Summer Jerla (Tom), Stephanie Battle Mollison (Ki), Shane Battle (Ashley), Travis Surgnier, and Scott Battle; as well as great-grandchildren Ashton, T.J.,Jackson, and Logan. She is preceded in death by loving husband, Julius Surgnier; brothers, Victor, William, Gene and Broadus; as well as sister, Isabel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bonnie J. Surgnier are suggested to North River Church building fund; 5517 Fort Hamer Rd, Parrish, FL 34219 or Tidewell Hospice; tidewellhospice.org. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home; 1221 53rd Avenue East, Bradenton, FL 34203, with a service to begin at 2:00 p.m.
