3/5/51 - 12/2/16 of Bradenton passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. Survived by daughter, Jenifer (Kris) Dunbar, son, Brian D. Ray, stepson, Kendall J. Collins, brother, Douglas P. Cousins, sister, Linda G. Paul and grandchildren, Matthew and Heather Inzerma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip J. and Constance L. Cousins, originally from Caribou, ME, her first husband, Richard C. Ray, father of her children and second husband, James W. Collins, soulmate and love of her life. She spent most of her life in Willingboro, NJ, raising her family and running her business, Stretch & Sew Fabrics and Bernina Sewing Center where she and her talented staff taught thousands of women to sew and create beautiful things for their families, their homes and themselves. She found great joy in watching their faces light up with joy at their accomplishments. She was also active in community service, working with the Office of Consumer Affairs in the 1970's, CONTACT Crisis Heiplines of Burlington County, NJ and the Office on Aging. In the 1990's she changed careers and became a Travel Agent, working for Liberty Travel and Air-Land Travel, then Blue Marlin Travel in Florida. She and husband Jim "retired" to Florida in 1999 where they spent countless hours on their boat enjoying the Florida lifestyle. After he passed away, she went to the Women's Resource Center of Manatee County to volunteer. Through the wonderful programs provided by the Center and the many amazing people involved, she "reinvented" herself and became an active member. During the last decade, under the moniker of "A Stitch in Time by Coleen" run in her home studio, she crafted countless works from intricate wedding gown details to major upholstery projects. She took a position at a local retail fabric and repurposed furniture showroom as a creative and business consultant. Her creative and productive thrust continued until mere weeks before her passing. She leaves behind a wide range of family, extended family and special friends in Maine, New Jersey and Florida in the East and in Arizona, California and Hawaii in the West. A celebration of life will be held at the Women's Resource Center, 1926 Manatee Ave W, Bradenton, FL, at 6:00 PM on January 10, 2017. In lieu of flowers she requested donations be made to the Women's Resource Center of Manatee and Sarasota Counties.
