age 84, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully at Blake Memorial Hospital on May 6, 2016. A memorial service will be held for close friends and family at Bee Ridge Church Cemetery at 2177 W St Rd 340, Brazil, IN 47834 on June 4, 2016 at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Trailer Estates Covenant Church at 1903 69th Avenue, Bradenton, Florida on November 12, 2016 at 1:00pm with Reverend Robert Dvorak of Trailer Estates Covenant Church officiating. Dorothy (DJ, Mom, Grandma) was born in Brazil Indiana to Florence and Clemens Hopper on July 6, 1931. She graduated in 1949 from Brazil high school and went on to earn a certificate in nursing. She worked as a nurse for Clay County hospital and Terre Haute Regional hospital over a period of 30 years. She moved to Bradenton in 1989 and continued to provide nursing care in the Trailer Estates retirement community. She truly loved helping others. DJ was an accomplished seamstress and was involved in the Red Hat Society, Cooks Night Out and Share Crafts. She enjoyed shelling at the beach, collecting rocks, hunting mushrooms traveling to see family, and playing board and card games. She loved baseball and basketball and was a loyal Cubs fan. DJ is preceded in death by her mother (Florence Hopper), father (Clemens Hopper), brother (Carl Hopper) and son (Michael Taylor). She is survived by her sons (Gary Taylor and James Taylor and wife Sherry), twin son and daughter (John McGowan and wife Richane and Jane McGowan-Wheat and husband Bill), grandchildren Chris and Audrey Taylor and Heather McGowan, and great-grandchildren Jillyan and Lyla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Trailer Estates Covenant Church, PO Box 6150, Bradenton, FL 34281.
