Gerald "Jerry" William Gray, age 53, born on October 21st, 1963 and died on August 9th, 2017. Survived by son, Benjamin (Brandy) Gray, daughter Samantha Gray, grandchildren, Jaelen Smith and Evan Gray, mother, Lyn Gray, brothers, Steve (Penny) Gray, Tom Gray, Chris (Shelly) Gray, Doug (Linda) Gray, sister, Cathy (Arlie) Musgrave, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by father, Ed Gray, sister, Elizabeth Gray, and nephew, Jacob Gray. Because of his sincere love and devotion to every pet he ever had, we count them as his family as well.
Jerry was a carpenter by trade but he could do whatever it took to help someone or simply to prove he could. He was both the life of the party and the most accomplished homebody you knew. His outdoor loves were boating, horseshoes, bird watching, bonfires, and just about anything he could do in open nature. At home, he enjoyed entertaining in a very informal "come as you are" setting. He always had a pool table, dart board, puzzle, movie, or game of some sort at the ready. He didn't need entertainment however, he was the entertainment. His voice and his person was larger than life, and if you knew him you didn't forget him. He was also very content to be alone with a book or to view the wildlife from his window. He created elaborate feeding areas for the birds, and none went unfed on his watch!
Please gather with us on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at Chris's house, 618 Whitfield Avenue in Sarasota, FL, to share any pictures and/or memories you have.
