James "Jim" Angel, age 81, of Miamisburg, passed away on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 in Dayton. Jim was born on May 12th, 1935 to Jake Angel and Gertrude (Shepherd) Angel. He was employed as an electrician for Dayton Press, formerly known as McCall's, for 29 years. Later in his career, Jim and two other partners started AME Developers, a very successful home building company.
Jim will always be remembered for his caring and joyful disposition, his love for his wife, and his desire to serve God. Jim was impossible not to like. He enjoyed creating beautiful wood carvings until he began to lose his sight, a trial that brought two sweet and wellloved guide dogs, Kasey and Bekker into his life. The loss of his sight didn't keep him from enjoying 18 holes on a sunny day, or from cheering on his favorite teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. Jim was very patriotic, loved our country, and was always proud to have the stars and stripes flying high on his flag pole.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Gertrude Angel. Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Fleming) Angel, two sons, Gary Angel (Glynnann) of Springboro, Jeff Angel (Josephine) of Franklin, one daughter, Lori Angel of Franklin; nine grand-children, Joshua Angel (Lara), Seth Angel (Megan), Nehna Dearth (Steven), Jacob Angel, Alyssa Angel, Jazmyn Angel, Katelyn Gatliff (Derreck), Whitney Ratliff, and Luke Ratliff; eleven greatgrandchildren, Norah, Reid, Cooper, Graham, Lincoln, Emersyn, Rowan, Evelyn Jo, Kian, Makena, and Lynnix; two sisters, Patt Dellinger (George) of Englewood, and Janet Ferrell (Rusty) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and two guide dogs, Kasey and Bekker.
The family will receive friends and family at Centerville Church of Christ, 1411 Old Spring Valley Ct. Centerville, OH 45458, on Saturday, April 8th, from 10 am to 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Todd Parsley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc., 4210 77th St. E, Palmetto, Florida 34221. You are welcome to send flowers, light a candle, leave a condolence or share a story about Jim at www.ConnerAndKoch.com by clicking on his name.
