John Henslick
February 13, 1951 - January 9, 2021
Palmetto, Florida - John Robert Henslick, 69, peacefully passed away at his home in Palmetto, Florida. He was born on February 13, 1951 in Santa Ana, CA and was the son of the late Major General James R. Henslick and Myrtle E. Blackwelder Henslick. John was also predeceased by grandson, Alexander C. Fort, Jr., nephew, Dylan Henslick and treasured niece, Billie Jean McCallister.
He is survived by his wife, Adria M. and sons; Alexander C. (Brandy) Fort of Bradenton, FL; Max W. Fort of Palmetto, FL, four granddaughters and two great-grandsons. John is also survived by his two sisters; Dian (Ron) Schueller of Sanborn, IA, Gail Henslick of Lawton, OK, and two brothers; James (Jill) Henslick of Bradenton, FL, Earl Henslick of Tallahassee, FL and many loving nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, FL in 1969. He enlisted into the Navy serving four years as a corpsman in the dental field. After graduating with his Master degree in environmental science/biology from the University of Florida, John started his own environmental consulting firm serving the Southwest Florida community for the last 35+ years and was appointed to the governing board of Southwest Florida Water Management District, serving from 2015-2019.
John trusted in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and valued his family and friends. He loved the outdoors especially while fishing, which led him to exotic places, and while hunting where he got quite proficient calling out the turkeys so his buddies could shoot them. He loved to mentor new turkey hunters as so to pass on his passion for the sport.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for January 30, 2021 at Palmetto First Baptist Church with 1PM Visitation, 2PM Service. For those unable to attend, livestream will be available beginning 15 minutes prior to service starting. Go to https://livestream.com/fbcpalmetto/specialevents. Covell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palmetto First Baptist Church Children's ministries.
A Military Funeral Honors Ceremony will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 11AM at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL. Any are welcome to attend.

I knew Joh through his Brothers Jim and Earl. He was a heck of a guy and was respected by so many friends and acquaintances. Our condolences to his Wife and children and as to all of the Henslick Family. May he rest in peace.
