a local resident for more than 40 years passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2016. She was 96. Born in Union City, Indiana, Reva grew up in Marion, Ohio and lived there until 1974. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1942 with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Education and in Nursing. After graduation she worked as an Registered Nurse in Miami, FL, Portland OR and central Ohio. Eventually she taught nursing at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Ohio before becoming a full time elementary school teacher in Marion, Ohio. She married her college Sweetheart, Robert Davies in 1945 after his return from the European Theatre in World War II. Besides her family, Reva loved traveling, music, swimming and genealogy. Reva had 12 aunts and uncles so family affairs were always a joyous and large affair. She traveled to all 50 states in the United States as well as to many countries in Europe and Asia. She was in the high school orchestra and played violin and piano and was a member of the Opera Guild of Bradenton. In her early years she was an avid golfer and tennis player and swam daily up to age 94. She also served as president of the Huguenot Society of Sarasota for four years. Bridge was also one of her favorite pastimes, as well as enjoying many church social functions. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Davies of Bradenton; and son and daughter in law, Tom and Julie Davies of Westlake Village, CA with one granddaughter, Lauren Davies of Washington DC. Her church, Bradenton Christian Reformed Church located at 4208 26th Street West will have a service for her Saturday April 16 at 2 p.m.
