75, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2016 after a short illness. She was born to Dorothy Irene and Charles Baxter Southern on May 6, 1941 in Steele Missouri. She graduated from the University of Miami (Florida) in 1963 with a BA in accounting. She spent the first 50 years in the Mid-South where she enjoyed Cotton Carnival, working as a CPA for her dad's company, and spending time at Pickwick Lake. For the last 25 years, she has loved living the Florida life in Cortez. She delighted in walking on the beach, watching dolphins from the boat, and exploring new destinations. When she was at home, she enjoyed reading, needlepoint, and personally managing her retirement. She leaves behind a wonderful husband of almost 27 years, Jim; a daughter, Dee Dee Overley (husband, Joe); a son, Robert Seemann (wife Danielle); a brother, Charles Southern Jr.; two step-daughters, Erin Strode and Elyse McMeen (husband Ben); six grandchildren, Maguire Overley, Campbell Overley, Dylan Seemann, Cody Seemann, Anna Strode, and Manus McMeen , plus many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many close friends she met throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, James Howard Southern. The Visitation will be 5-7pm, Thursday, May 12, and the Funeral Service will be at 11am, Friday, May 13, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street W.
