Jeanne Trimble Wilson Garrison

Jeanne Trimble Garrison was born October 3, 1928 in Bradenton to Robert and Polly Trimble. She graduated in 1946 from Manatee High School, attended FSU, she was a graduate of Ringling School of Art and earned a BA degree from University of GA. She married her childhood friend William Wilson, Jr. in 1951. Jeanne was a self-taught cloisonné enamellist. She began her art career as a graphic artist for a local advertising firm. She drew the Tropic-Ana girl that graced every carton of Tropicana juice for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Art Center Manatee where she taught enameling, teen drawing and painting classes. She taught enameling 36 years at The Longboat Key Art Center and many summers at The John C Campbell Folk School in NC. She became a juried member of the Florida Watercolor Society, winning several awards. She served as president of Entre Nous and was a Life Member. She was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir, served on the Altar Guild, taught Jr. Altar Guild, Sunday school and VBS. Many of her enamels hang in the sanctuary there including the Stations of the Cross. After being widowed in 1967, she remarried artist, Neil Garrison and created many works of art together until Neil's death in 2007. Jeanne is survived by her children William Wilson, III (Pam, deceased), Susan Knowles (Tim), Libbey Cherko; her grandchildren Darinda Wilson, Lauren Wilson, William Wilson IV, Albert Knowles, William Knowles, Matthew McNeal, Kyle Cherko; and 3 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 4030 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Online condolences at www.GriffithCline.com.
