EMPORIUM - John P. Dickinson, 67, of 923 Hillcrest Drive, Emporium, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning (April 30, 2021) at his residence with his family by his side.
He fought a long courageous battle with renal (kidney) cell cancer. He was born June 10, 1953, in Port Allegany, a son of the late Warren "Cotton" and Anna Hendrickson Coast. On April 13, 1974, in Port Allegany, he married Christine Hutton, who survives.
John graduated from Smethport Area High School in the class of 1972. He worked at Emporium Hardwoods since 1973. He loved to hunt and fish when he was in better health, and his favorite hunting trip was in Quebec several years ago with his son, Cory, and a few friends. John was a past member of the NRA and the John Berg Memorial Post 976 in Crosby. He enjoyed helping out with the Crosby kids fishing derby when he was in better health. John's favorite pastime was making his yearly homemade sauerkraut with family and friends. John loved his grandson Kasey to the moon and back. Kasey was the world to him.
In addition to his wife Christine he is survived by a son, Cory S. Dickinson, Emporium; grandson, Kasey J. Selb, Emporium; sister, Laura Covert, Eldred; brother-in-law, Mike Viglione, Grantville; along with several nieces and nephews.
