Lynda Pontzer Obituary

ST. MARYS - Lynda M. Pontzer, 67, of 500 Spruce St., St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Thursday (Aug. 28, 2014) at Penn Highlands Elk.
She was born on Jan. 26, 1947, a daughter of the late Edward and Orma Nicklas Pontzer.
Lynda graduated from Elk County Catholic High School and received her bachelor's degree from Mercyhurst University. She then received two master's degrees from the University of Arizona, one in art history and another in English. In her early years, she taught in Denmark, Scotland and Iran. She often substituted in the local schools, and greatly enjoyed teaching children to paint. Lynda traveled the world and was very adventurous, she had even participated in a biennial art show in Florence, Italy. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and animals. She will always be remembered for being able to see the art, brightness and beauty in everything. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by a daughter, Dayna Pontzer of Richmond, Va.; a life-long friend, Marsha Wolff of St. Marys and by her companion, Art Colaprete of St. Marys. She is also survived by three brothers, Michael (Dee) Pontzer, Joseph (Sandra) Pontzer and Terrence (Maria) Pontzer.
There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at noon Monday at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, with the Rev. Richard Allen, pastor, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk County Catholic School System, 600 Maurus St., St. Marys, PA 15857.
