Brownsville - Hector Domingo Garza Jr. 69, of Brownsville, Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2018 at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 14, 1949. He is preceded in death by his parents Hector Domingo Garza Sr. and Angelica "China" Garcia Garza. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Aurora Angela Ramirez Garza; Melissa Ann Garza Estrada (Julio Javier), Hector Domingo Garza III (Beau), David Edward Garza, and Daniel Alberto Garza Flores (Omar); Oscar David Garza (Deborah), Oralia Delfina Cortes (Ernesto), Rodolfo Desidorio Garza, Tomas Dario Garza (Rose Mary), Leticia Dora Garza (Carlos Sr.), and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Hector was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a patient and loving father. He served in United States Marine Corp from 1968-1970 H & S Co, 2nd BN, 3rd MAR, 5th MEB, MCB Camp Pendleton, California. He married Aurora Angela Ramirez from San Benito, Texas on October 26, 1968. He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1967. Then he attended the Pan American University where he graduated in 1974. He had a strong passion for history and served as a junior high school teacher for 26 years at BISD. He worked at Central Junior High School from 1976-1978 and Oliveira Middle School from 1979-2001. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church burial will follow at Rio Grande State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas. Services are under the guidance of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville. (956) 350-8485 Pallbearers will be Hector Domingo Garza III, Daniel Alberto Garza, David Edward Garza Jr., Julio Javier Estrada, Oscar David Garza, Jose Roberto Garcia Jr., Alfredo Cortez, and Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Tomas Dario Garza, Rodolfo Desidorio Garza, JJ Estrada Jr. Javier Casarez, Jose Maria Hernandez, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia Sr., Carlos Ramirez, Juan Vidal Ramirez Jr., and James Perez.
