Frances Theresa Collins Keough LaMoy, 91, of Sunset Beach died peacefully Wednesday, April 4, 2018, after several years of declining health.
She was born May 10, 1926, in Syracuse, N.Y., and graduated from Most Holy Rosary Church High School in 1944. Frances attended St Joseph's Nursing School and was a public health nurse with the Onondaga County Health Department in Syracuse. Her kindness, gentleness and compassion touched all those she met. She loved to travel and enjoyed learning about the adventures of others. She loved dogs and delighted in their personalities. During her retirement she actively painted, golfed and gardened.
Frances was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Frances received holy communion regularly from friends and volunteers, Mary and Jan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. Collins and Mary Aughwan Collins of Syracuse, formerly of Roscommon Township, Ireland; sisters, Kathleen Collins Bailey and Agnes Collins Broader; infant brother, Francis Collins; and husbands, Raymond Anthony Keough and Roy Henry LaMoy. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Keough Kingston (John) of Liverpool, N.Y., and Patrick Raymond Keough (Kathy) of Hillsborough; stepchildren, William LaMoy (Kathleen) of Dewitt, N.Y., Patricia May (Gary) of Huntersville, Timothy James LaMoy of Alexandria, Va., and Thomas LaMoy of Seattle; grandchildren, Jennifer Kingston, Amy Kingston Kern (Craig), Kerry Kingston Grandusky (Mason), Carter Keough, Lisa May Terwilliger (Craig), Jimmy May (Sara) and Gary May Jr. (Kristin); several loving great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, where friends and family may gather to celebrate her life.
A graveside rite of committal and burial service will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse.
