Gwen Inman Long, 51, of Shallotte passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Gwen was born in Columbus County on Oct. 16, 1967, to the late James Henry and Wanda Faye Inman. She was a medical records coder for several years. Gwen was a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church and loved being on the water, especially spending time on their boat the "Salty Dog". She enjoyed fishing from Key West, Fla., to North Carolina. She loved music, and her favorite band was Aerosmith and anything sung by Steve Tyler. She also enjoyed music from Elvis and ACDC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elyana Phelps, and her first husband, Joey Phelps.
Surviving are her husband, "C.M." Long; two daughters, Maggie Phelps and significant other, Michael Johnson, of Shallotte, and Holly Long of Shallotte; a son, Jacob Patrick Phelps of Shallotte; a sister, Ashley I. Mitchell and husband, Mark, of Shallotte; a brother, James O. Inman of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four grandchildren, Hannah Phelps, Noah Johnson, Ben Phelps, and Daniel Phelps; and a nephew, Andrew Mitchell.
A celebration of Gwen's life will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the Jennies Branch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
